Welcome
I am Evelina Smolina, an opera singer at the beginning of my professional journey. This website is a window into my world — a place where music, passion, and purpose meet. Here, you’ll find my work, my story, and the path I’m beginning to carve on the operatic stage.
Above all, what I cherish most in singing is the emotional exchange with the audience — that shared moment where music speaks beyond words.
Thank you for visiting and for being part of this journey.
Latvian lyric soprano Evelina Smolina is a rising opera artist whose performances combine vocal brilliance with a distinct artistic presence. In February 2025, she made her debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, appearing as Giselher and Waldvogel in the production Ab in den Ring under the musical direction of Elda Laro. Following this successful debut, she will return to the house in October 2025 to perform the title role of Ellie in the world premiere of Sidney Corbett’s Tintenfischlady, conducted by Leomard Martynek — marking an important step in her artistic journey.
In July 2025, Ms. Smolina earned her Master’s degree at the University of the Arts Berlin, where she studied in the class of Evelin Novak. Prior to that, she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Classical Voice at the Manhattan School of Music (2023), where she studied with Shirley Close and worked with renowned coaches such as Thomas Lausmann, Myra Huang, and Bryan Wagorn.
Her career milestones include a 2020 debut on the main stage of the Mikhailovsky Theater in St. Petersburg, performing Adina’s aria alongside Aida Garifullina and Ildar Abdrazakov, accompanied by the Mikhailovsky Theater Symphony Orchestra under Mikhail Tatarnikov.
She first came to international attention in 2019, making her Carnegie Hall debut (Weill Recital Hall) as Grand Prix recipient of the Crescendo International Competition Winners’ Recital, followed by an appearance at the Open Seasons Fest in St. Petersburg under the baton of Fabio Mastrangelo.
